Technics

Panasonic's hi-fi badge, carried by fewer US retailers than its rivals. Colors go in and out of stock, and firmware updates arrive on their own schedule.

Technics builds the audio hardware first and treats the software as an accessory, which is why its headphones measure well and its apps feel a generation behind. Buying one means accepting a thinner support and accessory network than the mainstream brands offer.
