Is it for you

Buy it if

  • You would rather replace a toaster oven than add a single-purpose appliance
  • Baking evenly matters as much as crisping
  • Cooking for more than two people at a time

Skip it if

  • Counter space is limited — the footprint is large
  • You wanted one job done cheaply rather than six jobs done well

A basket fryer crisps by blasting a small chamber. This does the same job with individually controlled elements and a real cavity, which is why it bakes and toasts as competently as it fries. Owner reports on longevity are notably better than the plastic-bodied competition.

The two costs are counter space and outlay. It is a large appliance and it is priced as an oven, not as an air fryer. If you only ever wanted crispy potatoes, this is the wrong purchase.
