Is it for you

Buy it if

  • A 49-inch super-ultrawide or a heavy 4K monitor that other arms cannot lift
  • Desks where the monitor rarely moves once positioned

Skip it if

  • Your screen weighs under 20 pounds, because the arm will not hold it down
  • You want a lot of height range for switching between sitting and standing
  • Thin or hollow-core desktops, which a heavy arm and screen can crack

This is the arm for screens that break other arms. PCWorld picked it as its heavy-duty choice and noted how smooth it is for its size, and how little of it is plastic.

The weight window cuts both ways. Twenty pounds is the minimum, and a light monitor on an HX drifts back up because the spring outpulls it. Weigh the monitor with its VESA plate before ordering.

It has less height adjustment than the lighter arms here, and PCWorld marked that down along with the bulk. On a desk that stays at one height it rarely matters.

A clamp holding 40-plus pounds at full extension puts a lot of leverage on one spot of the desktop. On anything other than solid wood or a thick steel-framed top, use the grommet mount or a reinforcement plate.
