Is it for you

Buy it if

  • A single monitor you move several times a day, between sitting and standing
  • You want the arm to outlast the next two monitors
  • Deep desks, where 25 inches of reach lets the screen come forward

Skip it if

  • Your monitor is over 22 pounds, which includes many large ultrawides
  • You are replacing an old LX and assumed the same 25-pound rating carries over

The original LX, part 45-241-026, is discontinued, and what remains of it new is mostly third-party stock. The LX Pro replaces it. It looks nearly the same and the rating changed: 4 to 22 pounds now, against 7 to 25 before.

That lower floor is the useful change. Light 24-inch monitors used to sit near the bottom of the old range, where a spring arm drifts upward unless tensioned right at its limit. The top end shrinking by three pounds is the trade, and it matters if the screen is a heavy curved panel.

PCWorld named it the best single-monitor arm, and called out how easy it is to install and how the wide clamp spreads the load across a desktop. That spread is worth having on a laminate or particleboard top.

It uses Ergotron’s mechanical constant-force spring rather than gas. A gas strut can lose pressure over the years, so the difference shows up late. The ten-year warranty is Ergotron putting a number on the same point.
