The tapered base drops into the cup holders it claims to fit, and for anyone who spends time in a car that one detail sold the bottle. Thermal performance is not in dispute either: ice survives a full day comfortably and the vacuum seal is as good as anything else here.

Forty ounces means most people fill it once for a working day instead of twice, and the handle keeps a bottle that size manageable over short distances.

Away from the car, opinion divides sharply. It stands tall enough to be awkward in a bag and to catch on shelves, full it is heavy, and the proportions that make it recognisable also make it impractical for anything involving walking any distance.

Complaints concentrate on the rotating lid with the straw. It was never designed to be leak-proof when tipped. Only one of the lid’s three positions closes it, and the other two leave either the straw or the drink opening exposed, so this is not a bottle to lay on its side in a bag. Owners who expect a sealed bottle end up disappointed.

The straw and gasket are replaceable and both benefit from being removed for cleaning, which usually decides whether a bottle stays pleasant to use.

Dishwasher safe on current production. The powder coat survives ordinary handling and chips if the bottle lands on a hard edge.
