Seventy quarts of capacity, and the insulated lid takes an adult’s weight — at a campsite that second fact gets used more than it sounds like it would. Nothing else approaches the price for a box this size, and for a weekend with a shop nearby it does the job. Most households already own one.

Construction is conventional blow molding with polyurethane foam injected between the shells, and the insulation is thinner than anything rotomolded. Under realistic conditions in genuine heat, retention runs a day or two, well short of the figures on the marketing.

The failure points are predictable and owners have documented them well. The hinges are thin plastic integrated into the lid. The lid seal is friction-fit and loosens over time. Drop it while loaded and it splits along the join between the two shells.

The drain is a plug and not a valve. It works, and it dribbles.

At this weight and price it stays portable in a way rotomolded coolers are not. One person moves it loaded, and nobody minds if it lives in a shed and gets treated accordingly.

Buy it if you need a large cooler occasionally and would rather replace it in five years than pay several times as much now. Multi-day trips, bear country, and a cooler that lives outdoors all call for something else.
