Rotomolding genuinely works. A one-piece shell with pressure-injected foam holds ice for days rather than hours, and survives being dropped off a tailgate loaded. That part of the marketing is not marketing.

What is arguable is the premium between rotomolded coolers, since several come out of similar processes with similar wall thicknesses. The differences that remain are hardware — latches, hinges, feet — and certification, which matters in bear country and nowhere else.

Weight is the axis people forget. The toughest boxes here are heavy before anything goes in, which on some trips is a bigger problem than a day of ice retention.
