EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus

A ten-pound unit for laptops, lights, and a router. Silent under load, and 600 watts is a hard limit.

Is it for you

Buy it if

  • A router, modem, and laptop through a short outage
  • Car camping where the main loads are phones, lights, and a fan
  • You want a UPS for a desk that runs silent

Skip it if

  • Anything with a heating element is on the list
  • You plan to add the expansion battery, which makes it poor value against a bigger unit

This is a different class from the rest of the page, and it is here because a lot of people shopping for a power station need a quarter of what the big units hold.

StorageReview measured a 9ms switchover and discharge slightly above the rated capacity. The Solar Lab found it silent at full output. Put those together and it makes a quiet desk UPS that also goes camping.

The X-Boost figure needs reading carefully. The 1,200W mode runs some resistive loads at reduced voltage, and The Solar Lab calls the number misleading. Plan around 600 watts.

Two of the three AC outlets face the back, which is awkward on a shelf. And the expansion battery that triples capacity is where the value falls apart, per The Solar Lab: by that point a single one-kilowatt-hour unit is the better buy.
