Buy it if
- The drive lives in a camera bag or a toolbox
- Dust and splashes are a normal part of the job
- You want hardware encryption without extra software
Skip it if
- You need sustained speeds beyond what USB 3.2 Gen 2 allows
- Every gram counts — the armour adds bulk
The plain T7 throttles and scratches; the Shield fixes both with a rubber jacket and better thermal behaviour under sustained writes. The IP65 rating is the part that matters for anyone shooting outdoors.
It is not the fastest drive here — the interface caps it well below the T9. For most people that ceiling is irrelevant and the survivability is not.
