Electric kettles, scored on five axes

Do you need a gooseneck kettle, or one that stops at the right temperature?

What this order is based on

  • Temperature accuracy and hold behaviour are scored as performance
  • Descaling tolerance and interior materials go into durability, since limescale is what kills kettles
  • Pour control is judged against the job — a fast wide pour is wrong for filter coffee
  • Boil noise counts, because kettles live in the room people talk in

Sorted by Overall — the plain average of this category's axes, highest first.

Two different tools are sold as electric kettles. One fills teapots and pans quickly. The other pours a thin, controllable stream into a filter cone and is deliberately bad at the first job.

Scoring them together makes the trade explicit rather than hiding it in a category split. The gooseneck models score well on performance and ease of use, and lose ground on capacity — under a litre does not cover a household making tea.

Durability here is mostly about limescale. In a hard-water area the interior material and how well the unit tolerates descaling matter more than anything else on the spec sheet.
